Who's your oldest known Caudill ancestor?

Howdy cousins & countrymen!

I know people are viewing these posts by but I don't know who they are unless they leave a comment. I'm assuming most have a Caudill connection of some kind? If so, what's your connection? Who's your oldest known Caudill ancestor? The oldest Caudill ancestor I feel I can easily prove is Jesse P Caudill. I'd like to say the older of the two Jesse Caudills on the 1800, 1810, 1820 & 1830 census records is Jesse P's father but I'm just not sure if the Junior evidence on the 1830 census is enough to say I've proven the older Jesse is the father of the Jesse Junior. What do you think? It's the best evidence I think any Jesse P researchers and/or descendants have shown to date. Don't forget to let us know who your oldest Caudill ancestor is?

    My grandfather was Lafe Caudill, his father was George Caudill, who was the son of John Wesley Caudill. I have it back a little farther, but it gets quite confusing trying to trace a family line when nobody knows the ancestors :)

    I have a Stephen Caudill BD 1689/1690 BP Scotland, DD 1759 DP Lunenburg Virginia married to Mary Caudill (maden unknown) BD 1698, BP Scotland DD Aft 1763 DP Lunenburg Virginia. They had 10 children, William, Sampson, Isom, David, Edward, Henryetta, Sampson, James, Benjamin, and one female not listed, and why two Sampson's don't no, they are three years apart. Stephen is my great (x's 8) grandfather.

    Deanna, Stephen James Caudill DOB:1680 Argyll, County Argyllshire, Scotland, Date of Death: Oct 21, 1759 Lunenburg County, Virginia, English Colony, is my Great Grandfather X8 also. His father was James Caudill DOB: 1641, also of Argyll, County Argyllshire, Scotland.

    So I have been doing some family research and apparently there is a book of family genealogy from Thomas Caudill (1610-1684) back to the early 1400's at the Cawdor Castle in Scotland.

    5th Great Grandfather: Jeremiah Caudill
    6th Great Grandfather: William Caudill

    I have no idea where to go from here as all records are lost. I like to believe we are Scottish as most of my research keeps pointing back to Scot roots however there is no confirmation, my grandfather passed and didn't know much about his family history. The children had a hard life and I don't think they spent much time telling stories about their ancestors as they did working in the fields. Some of them didn't make it past elementary school before they were forced to work... I think its going to be pretty difficult to come up with an actual family tree past this... Im not even sure how accurate the information is past John B. Caudill.
